Learning to play the ocarina well

This series introduces the basic techniques you need to play the ocarina. The intent of this tutorial is to document the technicalities involved with playing the ocarina well, what the instrument is capable of, and how to perform these things. It assumes a basic understanding of music theory, and some familiarity with sheet music would be useful.

The method described in these pages is meant to be a good starting point and should be taken as guidelines, not hard rules. In advanced playing, something that I label bad may be useful to you. Something that is a poor technique for general playing can work fine in a limited situation. Understand why I consider something to be a bad practice and evaluate its application for yourself.
